Why I became a surgeon
“I grew up in a small town where it was not uncommon to wait all day to see the doctor. It was during one such long visit that I made up my mind to enter the field of medicine. I love the combination of health sciences and personal attention required of my profession, and I want to make a difference in the care people receive.”

Excellence in surgery
“Even before the availability of laparoscopic techniques, I was known as the surgeon to see for smaller incisions. A smaller incision reduces pain, reduces swelling and leads to a faster recovery. And with laparoscopic procedures, I now make even smaller incisions. Surgery keeps getting better for my patients, and I’m happy to provide them with the leading-edge procedures they need and deserve.”

A time for understanding
“Surgery is a serious time in a person’s life. That person needs attention – personal understanding and thorough education in the procedure and what to expect. I sit down with every patient and explain their surgery and how to prepare for it in detail. There is nothing more satisfying than a thank-you from my patient. Knowing that I play a part in their health and make a difference is very rewarding.”
